I drive an S4 manual. When I park and shut the car off, if I fail to engage the parking brake, and open the door, there’s no beep or warning or anything. The car could be rolling and nothing. Seems odd- shouldn’t there be some reminder?

Can anyone confirm that this is the intended functionality and that I’m not missing some sort of setting?

You probably need a manual trans car to verify what you asked about.

My automatic sounds a warning and display message if I'm leaving the vehicle and it's not in park... and it will not lock the car, until in park.
Does manual car care if it 's in gear when you shut off/exit? This may be a key to any similar/different behavior.

The brake doesn't engage itself and the car doesn't seem to care if brake is engaged or not. When engaged the red light lights up on the switch.

At least this is the way it seems to behave. Sometimes I'm not sure it always acts the same...
