Default Putting Carbon Buildup to rest - I hope

So I got a call at lunch last week from WAZZU_STU, his car overheated and had no signs of water leakage or steam, and thought it was likely his thermostat going - I told him very likely, so he called up AoA and got her on a flatbed. STU just flipped 30,000 miles on our cruise up to Bellingham last week to meet the Vancouver, BC guys - he is the highest mileage B8 S4 I personally know, so I asked for him to get us some shots from the dealer when they pull his supercharger. The results are some very gorgeous and clean intake runners! The only part of the valve with any notable CB is where the shaft narrows far up from where it opens into the cylinder, and very little of it at that. If this is indicative of the other cars out there (and it is from what I have heard from the several techs around the country I have spoken to about this who have seen literally dozens of B8 S4 intakes now with all differnt amounts of mileage) we seem to be doing just fine!

Awesome! This increases my confidence in Audi and reinforces my decision to turn to Audi as my first Euro! I am really looking forward to join the ranks of the S4 owners in the near future. By the time the S4 gets the mid cycle exterior and nav refresh, it will continue to be a fierce competitor to the upcoming BMW 3 series. Go Audi!

Nice - very good to see this. They look very clean in that pictue.

(as a side note - when the t-stat fails on a newer BMW, they fail "open" so the car doesn't overheat. it would seem that the same is not true for Audi?)

Great news. This was my only reservation before buying the car. Looks like this probably isn't an issue, but I'll continue with daily Italian tune-ups just for fun.

Great news!

We have a 3.2 A6 in the family and it's been in for CB 3 times...

Now that's what we are used to.

This thread started by the NWS4Guy is strong proof the 'factory catch can' is doing wonders for our V6T's!
