Radar Detector? Wax?

Since I have a new 2011 on the way, thought it was a good time to start getting a few "necessities". I want to get a radar detector, but don't know which one. Never had one. Probably a Valentine? Or is a late model Escort good too? I don't plan on speeding but I bet the speed tends to creep up unwittingly in the S4..

Also, I want a good wax that's easy to apply and take off and last at least three months. I don't mind washing the car but I hate waxing. I try to do it only two times a year. And Nu-Finish that I used to use seem to alwasy leave white residue on dark plastic parts. And that's a no no on a black car.

And should I invest in one of those McNeil rubber mats? Or are they ugly?

V1

Zaino

/thread.

LOL.

I've used the V1 since 1999. Cannot tell you how many times it's saved me.

And Zaino is great. It's not the end all be-all of shine...you really need a high quality wax for that, and Zaino isn't a wax. But it's still quite shiny and more importantly it lasts and wears like absolute iron.

I'm thinking of doing the Zaino 1-step sealant aplied over a good wax and see how that looks on my allroad this weekend.

Sealants go on first, wax goes on after. Sealants usually don't perform well over wax.

my bad, I thought that I had read that the Zaino Z-CS 1-step product was suitable for using over wax but I was 180 degrees wrong. Do you know what "uncured" wax is?

It's wax that hasn't dried for a couple of days.

Like I posted in my other thread, Im a huge fan of Liquid Glass sealant/polish. Very easy to use(do the whole car if you want and let haze). Doesnt leave marks on black plastic either.

After that I use Zymol twice a year. Granted, my car is garage kept so it never really sees the elements other than parked at work.

Ive been using those two religiously though for over 15 yrs and I swear by them.

The weathertec "floorliner" mats are AMAZING! They go up like 5 inches and they are solid and you dont have the indentation from your heel like a lot of other mats.

I'm a passport 8500 guy, but I agree 100% on the zaino. Both the CS and the AIO are very easy and do not take long at all to apply and buff off.

However, this weekend I did the whole shebang:
Washed with dawn.
Clay Bar.
Washed with Z-7.
Z-AIO
Z-6
Z-2 Pro
Z-8

Yes, it took me all day (I'm insane), but at least it will last forever and it looks and even feels fantastic. Maybe the (awesome smelling) zaino fumes get to my brain but I am a huge fan.

Zaino seems like such a hard work. I want to wash, clay, then wax, that's it. That's hard enough work! I guess Liquid Glass for me than. I have used Zymol, and it smelled so good that all the bugs came landed on the car. May be it's too flowery? So if I have a Valentine, can I speed most of the times and be protected?
