Default rain guard/deflectors

Has anyone on here considered installing rain guards?

I'm considering these:

I'm unsure of how they'd look. Would anyone happen to have pictures on their B8?
Thanks.

I like them on my full-size Ford van tow vehicle. I think they are bigtime fugly on a nice car.

Here they are on a B5.

Thanks! It gives me some perspective on whether or not I want to pull the trigger.

I'm going on record to say that I am not a fan of rain guards, but I do have a question (and I am not being at all facetious): what exactly is their purpose? Is it so that you can crack the window while it's raining? How far can you put the windows down before the rain comes in?

^^^ ....and modern cars have very good ventilation systems so I don't see the purpose of driving with windows open when it is raining.

Since they allow you to crack the window a few inches without getting water/snow in...

It came in handy when I used to smoke. I'm not saying I'll be smoking in this car. I guess I became accustomed to rain guards from my previous car.

ultimately, it's a preference.
