What happens to a human brain in a car accident @ 185 mph?
First, let me remind folks what happened to my brain when I had my car accident 15 years ago in a modified '95 S6. My car slid on a winding road during a rain storm and I was T-boned on the passenger side. Our combined speed was 100-120 mph or so. Fortunately, my S6 was one of the first cars to get side impact beams - which kept the '91 Ford Escort Station wagon about a foot from my driver's seat; though it penetrated my car & flattened the passenger seat (luckily I had no passengers). My car also had self-tensioning seat belts and dual air bags in front. The impact of the crash was so severe, the self-tensioning seatbelt broke my right shoulder.
Though the other car never touched me, my brain bounced back & forth on the inside of my skull and nearly killed me. As it was, I had a blood clot near the surface of my brain, and am permanently disabled. A Star Flight helicopter landed in the rain storm, pried me out of the car with the jaws of life, and safely got me to the emergency hospital. I was conscious for a moment in the emergency room and yelled, "Get me the h*ll out of here!" - then slid into a deep coma. In fact, my initial coma was so deep (Glasgow Coma Scale of 4 on the 3-15 pt scale), I had an 80% chance of dying or never regaining consciousness.
After my brief burst of consciousness, I went into a long coma; 7 weeks. I would remain hospitalized for 3 months and then have over a year of outpatient rehab. I will never fully recover mentally and physically.
But, let me put this into perspective for you guys by helping you to visualize the density and texture of your brain when it's stationary. For those of you who make jello or have a spouse or a mom who makes jello: Have you ever accidentally stuck your hand in a jello mold when it's only about half ready; you know when it's still liquidy and doesn't hold its shape? Well, that's a pretty close approximation of the consistency of your brain inside your skull.
In other words, without your skull to hold everything together, your brain would leak out of your head. So in an accident @ 185 mph, your brain would basically cease to exist... Understand!?

I am sorry to hear this.... I have had my previous car up to 145 or so on a track (road course, PR, WA).

Sorry to hear about your misfortune, but glad you made it out of the hospital.
Understand what can happen and I would continue to attempt those speeds if my car were still here. But now it is headed back to the states and driving 40-60mph.
