speedometer reading 160mph vs 200mph
Anybody notice the speedometers on the 13s only go to 160mph..
Just caught my eye the other day when i was looking at the new pictures everyone's been posting.. the 13s are really growing on me, although i love my 12.. i must say that's always a topic of discussion when new people get in the car they always bring up the fact that the meter goes up to 200mph.. not to mention, if you top the car out, your bringing it right to the end of the line.. little shocked they did that.. thought that was a pretty cool thing to see in the car.. just seeing the 200mph gets the adrenaline moving.. either way congrats to the new people on there 13s.. cars amazing, really don't see how people drive anything but these cars.. |
Here in Canada (and I presume the rest of the world that uses metric :) ) it goes to 300km/h on the 2013s. This is about 186mph.
Looks really cool but... for me, makes the speedometer hard to read at normal speeds. I end up using the digital one most of the time. Here, 100km/h is the official highway speed and most people drive 115-130 without much worry. 140 is usually a ticket if clocked, and 150 gets the your car towed immediately. This is all such a small slice on the speedo. |

Yep. Has been discussed before. I think somebody mentioned before that it was to increase visualization at the lower speeds.

..also i can say i was lucky enough to let the car loose twice and max it out.. pretty cool feeling.. seeing the digital display at that speed was pretty exciting, not even sure if i looked over at the speedometer.. but if i did, it would have still looked like i had room to go.. also i read somewhere you can order this car and request the governor to be moved to 174mph is that right? makes senses them changing the speedometer to make it easier to see at lower speeds.. i usually keep my steering wheel at the lowest possible setting and seeing anything but the digital display is almost impossible anyways unless i duck my head a little.. |
Remember when some spedos only went to 80mph?
At least no one is claiming the '13s are slower... ;) |
