Sport exhaust on a 2010 S4 Sport exhaust on a 2010 S4
Hello,
Many years ago I vowed that someday I would own an Audi and now I'm finally in a position to own the one I want. That one is a 2010 Audi S4.
I started looking a few weeks back and recently found on that looks really promising. The car is at a local Jag dealer, looks very clean, not a mark on it and very low miles (even for a 2 year old car). However, the car has what the sales guy described as a "dealer installed sport exhaust". Being a Jag dealer the sales guy doesn't REALLY know what he's talking about but I can tell the car has a somewhat lower tone to the exhaust and on acceleration its definitely louder than others I've test driven.
Being completely new to the Audi S4 scene I don't know if this is a good or a bad thing to have on a pre-owned car. I've never heard of a "dealer installed sport exhaust" and find it surprising that Audi would offer one.
Anybody care to hazard a guess as to what I'm dealing with here and whether I should care that the car doesn't have the OEM exhaust on it even though its only 2 years old?

I'm still a newbie on this forum but not to Audi's so maybe the salesman is refering to a Stasis Exhaust. That would be my guess since there are a variety of products by Stasis that are warrantied/offered through most Audi dealers.

It's probably a Stasis exhaust. If you do a search on this forum, you'll find a lot of info about Stasis. Basically, they are an aftermarket parts company for various Audi vehicles. However, and this is significant, they have NO AFFILIATION with Audi and supply their own warranty once you go with their products.
That said, the exhaust options offered by Stasis for the B8 S4 are utterly horrific, and I would strongly advise that you test-drive this car thoroughly before taking the plunge. There have been several unsatisfied Stasis customers who have documented their problems on this forum with the Stasis exhaust. My further advice would be to find another CPO S4 with an OEM exhaust for comparison. If you're unhappy with the relatively silent exhaust note (as are most of us on here), there are PLENTY of solid, non-Stasis exhaust options. E.g., Milltek:

Thanks for the replies!
I'll check with the dealer and see what he says. Seems like there are lots of S4s to be had so if this one isn't the right one I'll find another.

If it is a Stasis exhaust, you will find the sound only slightly louder than stock. It has not been really popular with those who are looking for a more aggressive exhaust note. Some Audi dealerships are also authorized Stasis dealers, similar to what BMW does with Dinan. If you're really lucky, the Jag dealership doesn't really know squat about the exhaust and it has an AWE, APR, or Milltek exhaust. Anyway, be happy that the OEM exhaust is gone. The exhasut sound can only be improved with an aftermarket exhaust which are generally good quality.
