Trunk won't open with remote
 

Is there any setting that you guys know about that would prevent the truck from opening via the remote? Whenever I press the trunk button the lights blink but the trunk won't open. It works fine with the release in the driver's door, and also if I touch the button on the trunk lid itself.

Anything I should check before taking it into the dealer?

IIRC, I believe there's a menu option in the MMI Car>Car Systems>Vehicle settings that allows you to control the truck lock with the key.

Also check that you haven't hit the Valet button accidentally in the glove box. I know that disables the remote open, but can't remember if it affects the other methods.

I would suggest trying the 2nd remote that came with the car.

Yes. if only one remote does not work, try taking out the battery of the remote. It may reset itself.

If both remotes don't work try disconnecting the car battery. the elec system may reset itself when reconnected.

modern cars and smart phones are computers. sometimes they lock up and have to be reset.

I checked there and the only option was to "lock" the exterior trunk handle, which had no effect on remote opening.

Valet mode isn't engaged. I drive the car 50 miles a day and probably couldn't at all in Valet mode

Valet mode only stops the trunk from being opened IIRC. It has nothing to do about driving the car. Looks like a trip to the dealer is in order if the other fixes haven't worked.

I know with my remote I have to push and hold, but I am pretty sure you have tried that.

Glad it worked for you. I rarely use my remote buttons, but there are a few exceptions.
