Default Who had dedicated winter/summer tires/wheels?

I am trying to decide whether to go all season on stock rims or purchase dedicated winter tires/wheels combo. Or I may just order the lightest wheels possible within my budget with summer tires to go for the ultimate performace. I do plan on autocrossing my S4 when I get it, but I hear in my neighborhood I'd be lucky to get over 5000 miles on summer tires because the roads are so bad. So the cost could be an issue too... So for those of you who have dedicated seasonal tires/wheels sets, how is it working for you?

(thump thump)Is this thing on?<thump>(thump)

My plan for now is to keep the summer performance tires it willl come with on the 19's and get some unfancy 18's and put Blizzaks on them. It doesn't usually snow that much here (except last winter) but it does snow, and ice is common and bad drivers are freakin' everywhere down here, so the ability to make a quick avoidance maneuver with traction and confidence is at a premium.

With that said I've spent the last six years on AS's on my Allroad with no problems, including last winter. So maybe I'll bag my plan and just go with the AS tires, and spend the wheel money on something else. We've certainly got plenty of time to collect opinions and make up our minds.

I have a set of Dunlop Wintersport M3s on ASA rims for my current B6, and have already started looking for cheap 18s for my pending B8.

All seasons are a compromise, one I choose not to make.

not me, running A/S tires with aftermarket wheels. have a set of OEM 18" wheels/tires with only 120 miles on them if anybody wants them.

PM me if you've got a price in mind for just the wheels.

PM me if if you have a price in mind for just the wheels. I really would like to sell the wheels and tires at the same time though.

You really should, it'll make the tires a lot easier to sell. I'll do a little research though in case you just can't find somebody to take both.

Where I live, winter tires are mandated by the provincial government. My plan is to put winter tires on the stock 18's and switch the summer tires onto a different set of mags. Roads here are too bad to go with 19" or bigger wheels.

I am currently toying with the idea of getting these wheels:

I'm in Calgary AB. I plan to get a set of Nokian all weather tires and put them on 18' wheels for year round driving. The Nokians worked great on my A6. Still debating whether to keep the stock 19'.
