Would you have purchased an S5...
With the 3.0T engine now standard in the S5, those that purchased an S4, would you have selected an S5?
There is no right or wrong answer. More of a curiosity. I suspect some picked the S4 because of the 3.0T. Whether tuning potential, performance and/or fuel economy. I suspect most went for the practically of having 4-doors.

I think the S5 looks better with the wider track, but at this point with two medium-sized kids who need to ride in back I want four doors. In a few years when they've moved out I might consider a coupe.

It would have made the choice a heck of a lot harder, that's for sure. The original 4.2 engine in the S5 really turned me off right away.... that's a major component and I just didn't want it.
Same engine, minus 2 doors... well now there's something to think about. Now it's more about logistics.
Basically the same reason I have a used 997 TT in my garage and not the new RS5.... just don't want the NA V8, end of story, no reason to compare... oh and I like old school manual transmissions as well.

I originally picked out a 2010 S5/manual due primarily to the V8 engine. Unfortunatley the lower gas mileage and the associated gas guzzler tax pushed the purchase price about $800 over the budget for my new company car lease. I had to "settle" for an S4 with DSG and have been happy with it for 61,000 miles now, every time I push in that Audi key and stomp on the gas. It does not have the same deep roar of the V8, but it is still a blast to drive. No regrets whatsoever for me.

I changed my order from 2013 S4 to S5 back in May when I realized the price came down so much on an S5 - plus having the snappier responding V6.

The 2013 S5 is a beauty....and the V6T engine moves it up the practicality meter a few notches for sure...however I have a 13 year old son and am usually carting him and a buddy or 2 around town.
For family trips with lots of luggage my wife has a BMW X5.
The S4 and X5 is a good family combination!!
Now when my son goes off to college I am hoping to get an S5 convertible...living in North Carolina you get many months of enjoyment out of a convertible.
