B9 S4 Picture Thread – Random Photos
 

Hi everyone. Let's start a photo thread of forum members’ B9 S4s. All photos encouraged and welcome. Tell us a something about your car or nothing, your choice, but please post photos. We have a lot of photos from forum members in various threads, so please feel free to re-post old photos in addition to random photos of your car. Hopefully we can have a resource of a wide variety of colors, options, accessories, wheels, mods, etc. We can see what other members cars look like and potential S4 buyers will be able to get ideas for their new car purchase.

I'll start. Here's my P+ in Ibis White with Black Optic Package and Black Nappa with Audi Base Carrier Bars.

Although it seems like most members are against the black optic wheels, I still like them. No dealers seem to order black optics packages near me, unfortunately. Would love to see other angles just so I can continue to re-assure myself. One question though - was there any specific reason you choose Ibis white over Glacier metallic?

The main reason for not getting Glacier was that I like the contrast of the brighter white against the black optic trim (which I also have on my Q5 so I'm used to it) and also the additional $575 charge for the metallic colors.

For years, Audi offered Pearl White Metallic as a premium paint choice. It was priced like all of the other colors. Then Audi increased the price of PWM to $2,000. I bought that one once. Then they dropped PWM from the choices -- and I was unaware (still am) if PWM was even an Audi Exclusive offering.

The color Glacier is very nice -- especially up close and personal. From a distance of perhaps 15-20 feet it is almost impossible (for me) to tell it from Ibis. If the two are literally side-by-side, and I am at a certain distance, I do think I could tell them apart. However, the "metallic white" color, beautiful as it is, makes no sense to me in terms of paying any up-charge for it. Ibis has a characteristic -- I call it "all dressed up" -- that is second only to Pearl White Metallic (IMHO). The clear-coat shininess of Ibis is missing from Glacier -- although "up close and personal" Glacier looks even more expensive (than Ibis).

I have seen whites that have that "Candy" look that is retained at some distance -- Audi does not, currently, offer such a color. For me, and this is to be emphasized, "me", I'd take Ibis over Glacier since most folks can't tell that the color is metallic unless they get really close to it.

Now, if Audi would bring back Pearl White Metallic (and not charge $2K for it), I'd get on board. This is a huge deal for me -- I've avoided the "fee-based" paint for years until I saw an RS7 Daytona Gray Pearl on the showroom floor and went ahead and ordered it on my 2018 S4.

The range of "colors" between the whitest white and the blackest black has made our highways increasingly a black & white world; growing up I remember we would be treated to many more color choices than we are today. I remember tasteful reds, greens, and blues, but not many grays and very few blacks. Today, our parking lots (and showroom floors) are full of "50 shades of blacks, grays, and whites." I guess we're just conformists. Me included.

The new RS5 pictured in Road & Track is shown in what appears to be an eye-popping Emerald Green Pearl (I have no idea what its Audi-name is) -- the you tube videos depict a [dark, deep] Purple Pearl that is stunning, too. Fat chance most of us would feel "safe" with either of those colors.

Over on the SQ5 threads here on AW there is a "Gotland Green" (I think) that is great looking -- again, I'd assume not many takers.

We've become "boring" and "safe" for the most part, with respect to the colors of cars we ALL seem to buy.

Pity.

I believe the policy from AoA is for BO package on customer orders only. This would be the reason for no dealer stock (local or otherwise). Perhaps you will be able to catch an incoming ordered car.

Posted a separate new owner thread, but here's my brand new S4. Got too good of a deal to do special order, but got old school black optics wheels as a consolation. Might be the only B9 S4 with this combo:
