DAP Brake Sound/Feeling

I've used my DAP a handful of times without any issues. But today on my way home, I had an issue with people cutting me off in bumper-to-bumper traffic. When the car would start to accelerate and somebody would jump in front of me there was a very odd feeling / sound coming from what I thought was the brakes. After rolling up the windows and having this happen again, it sounds more like the mechanism by the brake pedal. Is the noise or feeling just the mechanism jamming on the brakes quickly? Have any of you experience this? It doesn't feel like something is wrong, I'm just looking for an explanation of what I am hearing and feeling.

For me, DAP brake modulation has always been a bit "clicky" at times and you can sometimes hear/feel those "clicks" happening through the pedals when the system is active and transitions between braking/acceleration are occuring, particularly in traffic at lower speeds. I have no idea what is actually happening under there but it seems there is something mechanical going on behind the footwell.

Maybe superswiss or one of the other regulars here with deep technical knowledge can chime in and elaborate on what "should" be happening behind the curtain when DAP is active. I'd be curious to know how it works from an engineering standpoint too but have never researched the question myself.

I'm actually at the dealer right now, for something unrelated. The service consultant said it's the ABS (Automatic Braking System) doing it's thing.
