Default Redline when cold?

So, I'm just curious if this is a change that was made when I had the preset-,mode MMI TSB update applied in January -- or if this always happened in the past 14 months I've had the car.. I just noticed today that when the car is first started when cold, the VC tach shows the redline at 5500 RPM until the car warms up -- and then shifts it over to 6500 RPM once the coolant temperature reaches the middle of the gauge. I know that update lowered the value that the oil temperature starts displaying by 15 degrees C (Now starts at 113F instead of 140F) -- curious if this was something else that changed, or I just never noticed.

This has always been a feature. The redline will actually dip to 4500rpm if it's cold enough. Source: I live in MN
