Insurance Cost
Hey Guys
So i just ordered my new 2018 s4 which should be here in 3.5 months and got a great price, i got 15 percent off msrp. I should've looked into this but messed up before ordering, what is the average amount in insurance you guys pay every year. I'm at 24 year old male with 1 speeding ticket which should be off my record in about a month and was given an estimate on the progressive site without entering my ssn # a quote of $2500 a year for good coverage. What are you guys paying at the moment?
Thanks

$2500/yr for good coverage (I consider good coverage to be 250/500/100 with a $1MM PLUP) is a tad bit more than I am paying, but less than what I expect for a 24 year old let alone one with a speeding ticket. Personally I wouldn't insure a car like this with Progressive and would instead go through a real insurance company via an agent, but I'm sure plenty of people do.

I don't use Progressive, but just for comparison's sake I quickly went through their calculator like you did and came up with $398 for 6 months (or $796 for a year). You pay a big premium for being young (especially under 25)... not sure how you can afford a car like this, but so long as you aren't digging into a hole I'll say kudos to you. I'm 40 and relatively well off as a pilot (but also married with 4 kids ), and I had to save up for years to be able to buy this car, and will keep it for a minimum of 10 years.

As I believe it integrity, here is the actual quote for my car that I've ordered as well. No bluster, just facts. I'm a 41 year old male with no tickets. But based on your previous posts, I am sure you can get the insurance company to give you coverage for $100 per year. This is GEICO.

The OP is forgetting on BIG variable... That being location.... An insurance quote will vary dramatically depending on the zip code where it is insured.

I agree with the statements made by others that cost is determined by several factors including but not limited to age, driving record and location. I'm a male driver, age north of 25 and with a clean driving record. My insurance company is GEICO. Along with the S4, I also have insurance on a 2008 Audi A4 and 2018 Volvo XC90, insurance cost on the S4 is $826 per year. Collision and comprehensive deductible set at $500.
For reference, the Volvo, which has an MSRP of $72k but a lot of safety content, is $860 per year.

In Cincinnati, the cost to insure 1 2018 S4 and 1 2018 SQ5 (and pre-paying annually) combined is $2,292 -- both drivers are over 60; no traffic violations for at least 10-years.
Multi-car discount applies as does additional discount for having homeowners insurance through the same company (a name brand national company). Additionally, we added (which somehow ends up on the auto-policy) an umbrella (liability) policy.
The line item for the umbrella says $414/yr premium. So, without this, it would be $2,292 minus $414. I suspect being incident free and over 60 and living in Cincinnati helped the premium. We also received a discount for the S4 since it had the Driver Assistance Package -- my wife's SQ5 Prestige has the standard Audi pre-senses but does not have ACC (since she opted to NOT go with DAP) which apparently gets some discount for being partially autonomous. I can't tell you what the discount is and how long it will take the discount to pay for DAP, but my guess is the discount couldn't possibly be more than $100/yr.
I just noticed that the collision has a $500 deductible. Not sure if we (my wife and I) discussed this with our agent but somewhere in my cobwebs the premium offset to drop to $1,000 was paltry. Heck, you can't get a blemish removed for much less than a $1,000 especially if you have pearlescent paint (as do we both). Probably the older American thing worked to allow us to go with the $500 deductible for but a pittance.
What I think this appears to work out to is a premium amount (for the S4) of south of $900/year. Keep in mind the bundling does help -- Homeowners + Auto1 and Auto2 with the umbrella.

Mark, mind if I ask who you are insured through? The partially autonomous vehicle discount is very interesting to me as I have DAP as well. Feel free to PM me.
