iPhone XS Max - CarPlay Disconnects
#11
I'm having issues with my XS disconnecting and Carplay freezing up so saying an app isn't available. The 12.0.1 updated fixed it for a few days but now it's back to its old ways again.

WORST EXPERENCE EVER
Disconnects and then reconnects continuesly
12.0.1 on iPhone XS
$50K car, $1200 phone and CRAP
Tried 5 cables, disconnected everything, did the three finger reboot of head unit, reboot the iPhone
It is embarrassing to use the phone with the car.
I am going to drop the BLUETOOTH, not connect to the USB and use a headset, I need to do business in the car, and this is now useless.

I got a new one yesterday:
Accepted an incoming call via the MMI button (with 7+ plugged in and running Carplay) and the music continued to play over the System, and the phone call was answered, but microphone and audio was not transferred to the phone. WEIRD. That was a first.
Discontinued use of Carplay, and attempted to connect phone via bluetooth. MMI told me Phone was successfully connected, but i still couldn't HEAR the phone call through the system, and mircophone was still disabled.
The weirdest part of this: is that I still haven't taken the 12.1 update.
I really like Carplay, when it works, but wow. How does this thing find ways to screw up when seemingly not changing the OS or any of the programming in the car??
I thought the literal selling point of Apple products was to NOT be buggy???

The general consensus on the Apple support forums seems to be it’s an issue with the power saving settings on the iPhone. If the iPhone if fully charged, or close to it, then it doesn’t disconnect. I’m on the official 12.1 release and haven’t had any disconnects or freezing in about a week.

Right when I updated to 12.0 -> 12.01 -> 12.1 seems to be the most disconnects as the phone tries to update Apple CarPlay in the car. Other
than that, concur prob a voltage thing. Technology blah!

Mine is still fubar, and even switching to bluetooth is causing the same issues: can't use the audio or microphone to interface with the phone during a call.
I'm still holding out on downloading 12.1
thanks,

Are you referring to the power settings in the Settings menu of the phone, or is this an embedded bit of programming within IOS that we have NO control over??
