Possible intercooler replacement?
Hey everyone! New to the forum so any help would be awesome.
Just this past weekend, I pulled into a lot that had some uneven concrete flooring and ended up scraping / cracking my front spoiler and denting my intercooler a bit. The front spoiler i was able to find an OEM part and replacing it seemed pretty straight forward after taking off my bumper, (roughly ~400 for the front spoiler and about ~90 for the plastic grill extension) but i noticed some creases on my intercooler. Any idea if i need to get this checked / replaced? 2019 S4 Premium Plus https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.aud...2d0b06a488.jpg |
Eessh, that sucks. I would think you are fine so long as you didn't crack it / the system isn't leaking. And I would think you'd get some dash lights if you, were as I'd guess a loss of system pressure would probably throw an alarm somewhere.
In any case, if you did want to swap it out, I would absolutely take this opportunity to throw a bigger intercooler on it. There are at least 3 aftermarket options available so far: https://www.audizine.com/forum/showt...ion-comparison |

I think you'll be fine but...
if you are going to have the bumper off already I would upgrade the interccoler. I had the IE intercooler installed on my 2018 s4 last fri. what I can tell you is that there is no longer any noticeable power loss due to heat buildup (which I did notice on my 2013 s4 as well as my 2017 allroad). also have the dtuk piggyback which I was able to turn up (after speaking with them) to negate the pressure drop inherent in a larger intercooler.
