The AWE ColdFront™ Intercooler:

Cast aluminum end tanks with internal baffling, and a robust bar/plate aluminum core for maximum heat transfer render a 130% increase in frontal surface area and a massive 83% increase in volume over the factory intercooler.

Regardless if your vehicle is producing higher-than-stock boost levels, or you’re keeping it within factory spec, the ColdFront™ Intercooler solves any potential heat related issues. By keeping intake air temperature low, and pressure drop at a minimum, engine output remains consistent even when outside temperatures rise. The ColdFront™ will provide the safety margin needed in order for you to push the limit with confidence.

Important fitment notes:

There is no cutting required when installing this intercooler. The ColdFront™ Intercooler reuses the factory intercooler hoses and clamps.

What’s in the box?

Complete AWE ColdFront™ Intercooler with all necessary hardware required for proper installation.

Right when I was comparing B9 S5 intercoolers between 4 companies (ECS, APR, IE, and CTS).
Now to the key spec that I think you guys forgot to list. What are the dimensions of the core on the the AWE ColdFront for the S5?
That way we can actually calculate the volume increase? It honestly looks bigger than all the other intercoolers I have seen.

Didn't forget

Here are the dimensions: 22 L x 16.93 H x 2.25 W

Largest frontal surface area available, to my knowledge.

That is rather large!
From a cooling perspective, which is more important? Frontal area, or volume?🤔

Frontal surface area, though both play a role, just differently, and the key is finding the best balance of both. Deep coolers with minimal surface do not perform like a thinner cooler with larger surface area.

Frontal surface area is really good for cooling, and volume is good for pressure drop.

Reason frontal surface area is good for cooling because the fins are exposed to all of high pressure air while the vehicle is moving -- vehicle moves fast, air moves faster across the fins, cooling the charge air.

Goal is to max out the amount of interaction the charge air has with the ambient air to have the best amount of cooling.

Hope that makes sense

Makes perfect sense! It's just funny how I spent 2 days looking at intercoolers, then login on here and you guys have one too
Now do I get a forum discount since I'm one of the first customers?

We don't have forum discounts, unfortunately. They are already priced really really competitively.

At what point in the induction path are those IATs being measured?

We used a thermocouple at the throttle body coupler.
