I asked my dealer about this on Saturday, as I first noticed this issue on the Audizine forum. They didn't have a clear answer, and told me they would contact Audi. In addition, I also called Audi North America, and was told to inquire via their customer support email address:audicare@audi.com

I still have not heard back.

Just unwrapped mine which arrived at the dealer this evening...no dust covers. Will check the build date when I take delivery on Saturday, but I ordered at the end of October.

If your vehicle was built in June 2017 (06/17) or later, it won't have these rear caliper covers.

The question remains --- if Audi did this in error or on purpose. I am planning on visiting my dealer tomorrow and see what they say...

This was a running change for cars built after the month I listed in my previous post.

They either ran out of the proper S4 brakes and subbed in A4 brakes, or it could simply be a smarmy business decision to save 77 Euro (~$92) per car. That is what it cost me to buy the covers that I now have to return since they can't be put on these unsightly rear brakes. Honestly, if anyone looks at the below image and thinks the left side looks as good as the right, I just don't know what to say. Instead of a nice "S" logo, I've got "JH"... yay!

Someone on the facebook page had them changed out at no cost by their dealer, but it sounds like this outcome is entirely personality-dependent on the dealer, with some siding with the customer while others try to say it isn't a problem.

These are now the same as the standard black calipers, so the rear calipers are identical designs whether you get the S sport package or not (black or red).

Hmmm... More annoying cost cutting on such an expensive car - kind of unexpected on a car that's around $65K well-optioned.

Here's my news folks... I went to my dealer today. They were going to 'good will' the covers, but since our calipers don't have the two holes to mount them, they can't replace the entire caliper as it was a factory decision to change their production design during the model year. Based on all of the feedback on the topic, it boils down to 'luck' if your dealer will 'good will' the replacement, but this is now targeted at Audi US. There's a total of three 'misses' for these later build B9 S4's - 1. missing rear brake caliper dust cover 2. single trunk light, instead of two (on the right), and 3. single bag hook in the trunk, instead of two (on the left). #2 and #3 are easy fixes, a couple of bucks and some details on this forum and you'll solve it in no time. #1, only Audi US can resolve. I plan to raise a bit of noise with them.
