S4 vs SQ5
Looking at both and I know it's a crazy comparison. But I can't decide. Currently leasing a 2016 A6 and like the size but it's underpowered. Wanted something more spirited this time. I'm 6'4" and the S4 feels a little cramped, but love the steering and acceleration. The Sq5 is also spirited but makes me feel like the old man I am (64). Very roomy
Any thoughts as I have to pull the trigger this week

Size of the S4 (or lack thereof) would concern me for your frame. I'd think you'd need to have the seats all the way back in the S4.
Not really sure you'd get THAT much more leg room in the SQ5??
Certainly more HEADroom.
I'm 6'1", and it feels just right for me.
I've actually never driven the SQ5, but SUV's just aren't my thing. As I've said a billion times....If we got an S4 Avant on this side of the pond, i'd be ALL OVER it.
Really comes down to personal choice, and I have no idea where the deals, and or the money factors are at for either.
good luck. I don't think I was much help.

If you have an A6 with the 3.0, the SQ5 wont feel that much faster. Infact, I prefer my A7 over the SQ5 when it comes to acceleration and smoothness. The old supercharged engine is a gem. But the SQ5 is pretty fast for an SUV and that engine and exhaust noise is wonderful.

I'm 6'3". I love my 2018 S4 but I wish I had gotten an SQ5 instead. S4 has better driving dynamics but I'd rather have the extra space and taller form factor.

We have both '18 S4 and SQ5. The SQ feels significantly larger. The seats in the S4 are better. They are both great performers. If you feel cramped in the S4, the SQ5 will probably be a "good fit" for you. Age is a state of mind. I just turned 67.
Much as I love the A6/S6 it just seems too large for driving in the city -- but the S6 is a great grand touring car. But you'll pretty much be well over $75K for one of those. I recently drove an S6 and it made me feel like an old man -- but it would be easy, easy, easy to drive all day long at 100MPH if traffic (and the law) would allow.

OP: I'm cross-shopping these, too. So, you're not (or weren't) crazy.
We've got an A3 currently, needing more room and tbh kinda disappointed over time with performance of the 2.0 turbo, even in S mode. Thought the S4 was the logical upgrade choice, but it was less roomy than we expected. So.. we're on to looking at the SQ5 now. Still haven't had time for the test drive, so it's just online/magazine shopping at this point.
Interesting that you got a good deal -- congrats. I had the impression the SQ5s were moving off the lot pretty well and there probably wasn't much room to haggle.

In the same boat. We have an 18' SQ5 (absolutely love it) and need a second vehicle. Performance and price wise the only comparison is the S4 but its TINY compared to the SQ5. Can't find a stroller in the trunk. The next step up is the S6 but significantly more money.
