S5 sportback and S4 sedan question
I am wondering why the S5 and S4 are not included in the same sub-forum.
I've been on the S5 sub forum and much if not most of the things they discuss are directly related to the S4 as well.
How much chassis and mechanical difference is there, if any, between the S5 sportback sedan and the S4 sedan?

The differences are subtle enough that a valid point could be made for merging the forum, but also substantial enough that an equally valid point could be made for not.
On one hand it is "just" the roofline, but on the other the S5 has frameless windows, pano glass roof, no mounting points for roof rail towers, and then of course the soundsystem and trunk design is different due to the aforementioned.
The A4/S4 share an owner's manual. A stronger case could almost be made for merging those forums than S4/S5.

I don't understand Audi's branding strategy. Seems like the A/S4 and the A/S5 coupe have more in common than the A/S5 coup has in common with the A/S 5 sportback. Seems more rational to give the four sedan and the coupe the same number designation because the sportback looks like a far different car.

Agreed on this, and personally I'd like to see a merge.
Mechanically, they are 100% identical with few exceptions. Drivetrain and Suspension = same, as well as MOST electronics.
I say do it. More collective opinions shared, problems solved, and overall vendor ads shaved from the forums.

A merged forum could be called "B9" and include variant specific subfolders for coupe/cabrio/sedan/sportback along with subfolders for A/S/RS, and I would imagine that 90% of the threads would just live under the main folder.
For now, I just cross check each folder.
