I’ve had the car 19 months and I’ve not worked out what this symbol is for. Logically I assume it shows a central vent is open but I’ve never felt any air coming through this. Does anyone know definitely?

That opens the big wide vent in front of the passenger. It's dubious if any actual flow comes out of there or not and it only seems to flow when the temperature is stable. The idea is to provide better passenger comfort without blowing in their face.

Hmmm as I said in my post I've had the car 19 months now with that icon on all the time and never felt any air coming out of this, neither hot or cold.

Same here. Nothing changes when I activate that feature in my car.

Audi took it out the MY19 model vehicles, I don't have the option to open or close it so it will remain closed.

The only way I know it works is because I inserted a temperature probe in there and it matched the temperature of the other vents when that control was set to open, and not when it was closed. But I'll be darned if I can feel any air actually coming out of it.

It should be in the open position now.
If you toggle the “sync” switch upwards you can close it. I too can’t tell the difference.
One day I’ll have to turn the fan on high and put a piece of tissue paper in front to see if it moves lol.
When I received the car; the dealer told me that it used to air out the cabin. I think he was just making that up.
