Default [LEARNING] Right track for understanding why a boost leak (such as a DV) causes overspooling?

Torn DVs, or boost leaks in general (please correct me if I am wrong) cause some loss in charge pressure, thus the turbos overspool to make up for the lost pressure.

The pressure sensor is *right* before the throttle plate, the DVs (or other boost lines) are before the pressure sensor. So when the ECU sends the signal for XX boost, the turbos provide boost (very very simplified) and the sensor measures it. If the sensor detects that the boost is less than the requested, the wastegate does not open (to vent the excess charge pressure) to allow for the turbos to compensate for the lost boost.
