Search the forum archives, aka the search button. You'll find a lot of useful information in there.

Yeah, I know it's not cheap. Good luck though.

Default Grinding mushrooms the engagement tips of the slider. --->

Try this exercise. It's a lot cheaper then a tranny repair.

1. With engine off, clutch depressed, try to get it into first or second gear by repeatedly pushing harder and harder (don't break or bend anything). Do this again and again, depressing the clutch anew for every attempt, and continue if there seems to be even the slightest progress. This works on the mushroomed slider tips, and eventually the gear may engage with effort.

2. If the first step is successful, repeating it many times should reduce the effort.

3. Exercise 1 - 2 shifts a lot, whenever stopped. Eventually the effort may return to normal.

Anyway, this was my experience. :-)

Default Synchros need the friction of relative rotation to jack up (block engagement). --->

You're exercising the synchros with the engine off. Also you're working only on the parts that need replacement anyway if you can't save them by this exercise. It worked fine for me. My tranny shifts just like new.
