Default 17" OEM wheels are NOT adequate for Stoptech brakes!!!!!.......

I've decided that despite their claim, these units aren't designed for the OEM 17" wheels. Yes they "fit", but the clearance is less than 2 millimeters! I had a small piece of tar debris stick to my wheel and it started to make this god-awful sound as it ground against my caliper. There appears to be a little more clearance with my BBS RKII, but I am going to write a letter of complaint to stioptech, stating that they should not say these brakes are designed to be used with the OEM S4 wheels. The clearance is just too tight if you actually plan on driving the car. You can't even fit the wheel weights!!!

Default Are there any other brake kits that fit the stock wheels properly?

Just curious.

Default There are a lot of people who have had no problems though...

I know two or three people who ran them for ages with the stock wheels -- including for their winter wheels when the problem is worse. After relocating the wheel weights, I haven't had any problems at all with them.

My AP 6-piston kit fits better than the Stoptechs.

Default Same here. Lots of clearance (1 cm all directions) -- more than stock!

Funny. Pucker power, too.

Default My brakes fit under stock wheels just fine...

Although this is the only pic I have right now, and it's with my track wheels...

But trust me, it fits:

Default Clearance was enough for me

Daily driver for 20K and 4 track days before I switched to SSR's. They are now my winter wheels. Only had to relocate the wheel weights on the Avus rims. This was the original caliper design too.
