17psi on a stock ECU???? Help/input/advice (long)
I was at Putnam this weekend when the car started to make a louder than normal turbo sound (I think similar to what Tomasz posted a few pages back). As soon as heard this, I checked the boost gauge. To my surprise it was reading 17psi (sustained). I lifted (fortunately I was on a straight). The sound went away below about 12 psi. After the run session, I VAG'ed the car. No DTC. I did a quick log with the help of friend and the uncorrected spec boost was 2120 mbar, the actual was 2140. The boost tracked nicely and did not look as if there was a leak. I cannot post since the log is on my laptop and I lifted soon after I got the values to avoid unnecissary damage.
I drove home last night, no unusal sounds and I averaged 24.2 mpg. I normally run a MTM chip (L-box), but I swapped back to stock for the event. I cleared the power code and ran a TBA. Was there anything I missed?
Please, any input would be great. On a side note, the car did not "feel" like 17 psi. It does not feel as strong as the MTM chip at 15psi.

I told you, your lap times were too slooow - your car decided it needed to go faster.....
The car knew that the driver was hopeless, the ECU automatically requested more boost to make you go faster. The Bosch Motronic guys are really that smart!
