Default 2000 S4 CEL and mod questions?

I posted a question last week about my 2000 S4 that I just picked up, the car is a 2 owner very clean, 140000 miles, but in very nice shape. The CEL came on, shop said it is a MAF, and that the diverter valves are still plastic, and should be replaced to metal....my question is, I was thinking about doing a few mods, such as chip and maybe some other stuff, can you guys give me some ideas, since I need to replace the MAF,and diverter valves, what should I go with as far as some performance stuff at this stage, or do you think that the engine with 140k, should be left stock???

Default Diverter valves: stay away from TurboXS or TurboSmart, go with a 710, hyperboost, forge, or Dahlback

Racing, definitely change your Trottle Body Boot (TBB) because they often tear once you chip the car. Get a Samco or an APR Bipipe is even better. Ask other 2000 owners about your F-hose (I have a 2001.5 so i can't help there)

Default the 710N's are decent for DV's but serious Mods, go with the metal......

the engines and trans are pretty much bulletproof from what i've heard. I recently bought a MTM chip which is not as agressive as others but is probably the most reliable, THats what I was looking 4. Call AMS their TECS are awesome with giving you info on reliabilty upgrades. ask about the SAMCO upgrades. Y-boot, F-hose and some others. AMS was very honest and thier techs are more than willing to help.

Default firstly, dont listen to that advice. second, try searching the archives - this stuff has all been

covered many times before in more detail than you'll get in reply to this post.

theres a ton of info here, you just need to learn how to find it.

Default You have plenty of options

As for the diverter valves a lot of people seem to have good luck with the OEM bosch 710n valve. However, when my stock dv's went bad over 3 years ago I replaced them with the aluminum Forge 007 dv's and they are still in great shape. Go for the Forge if you are willing to spend the extra cash.

Another common failure on the 00' s4 is a tear in the throttle body boot. Often under the clamps so you can't see it if it's torn unless you remove it. I would recommend inspecting that.

As for mods at this stage the list is almost endless. A few mods I would suggest are a short shifter, ecu chip (APR and GIAC are good), coilover setup (stasis) and a performance cat-back exhaust. I picked up most of my stuff from avalonmotorsports; they can get pretty much anything.

Good luck, hope this helps. Check out the link I've provided for the S4 directory if you haven't already.

http://homepage.mac.com/edyjun1/S4/index.htm</a
