2000 S4 Prices?
I am about to buy a 2000 S4 and am interested in what kind of prices people have been getting of late and/or I should expect in purchasing a new one.
I live in Chicago, IL and have done some surveying of the inventory in the area, which appears to be pretty good (approximately 20 S4s in stock on dealer's lots, another 5+ coming in in the next few weeks). The couple dealers I've talked to so far are opening discussions at around MSRP, so there is definitely a discount to be had. There is also stock of acceptably optioned cars at several dealers in my area, so I can shop around pretty easily.
Preferably I'm looking for just cold and convenience as options, which is MSRP of $40,200 and invoice of $35,995 (including destination). Based on the info I've seen so far, I'm shooting for 5-10% over invoice ($37-38.5K). Has anyone else been able to get prices in this kind of range? From what I've read on the board, it sounds like most people are buying at MSRP, but I also gather the midwest has a higher relative supply of S4s.
Also, can anyone confirm or deny that Audi has a 2% of MSRP holdback? I've seen mixed reports in Edmunds, CarPoint, and other sources ...
Thanks, RJS
P.S. Thanks for all the useful info posted to this board, reading the history has been very helpful in answering many of my questions.
