Default 2001 S4 vs 2002 A4

I'm looking to get my hands on an Audi because I think they're awesome machines but I'm torn between a 2001 S4 vs 2002 A4. Does anyone have any opinion or advice?

Thanks

Default I own a 2000 A4 and i love it but...

I would kill for an S4, drive the S4 and it will make the decision for ya! GO FOR THE S4!

Default S4!

even thought the 02 3.0 is a nice engine, but teh old body style, and 250horses is the way to go!

Default The new A4 has more space...

If that is important, then get the '02. Also, the new car has a phenomenal new auto transmission that is revolutionary. If sportiness and power is what you want, you can get a '01 S4 for not much more than you'd pay for a 2002 A4.

Default What more important to you?

The power of the S4, or the cutting edge technology and space of the 2002 A4? Both are excellent choices, and you will be happy with either. Test drive both if you can. Or at least the S4.

The CVT transmission is not available with Quattro. That alone discounts its value considerably.

Also it can't handle all that much torque yet...

Default I'm sure the new A4 is nice...

I had a 1999 and loved it but always wanted more power (an S4). I'm sure the new A4 has more zip with the new engine but no way is it going to be anything like an S4. I just moved up from that 99 A4 to a 2001 S4 and I absolutely love it. Sure, a bit more space would be nice and some like the new design. But if power and handling are important to you, the S4 will simply blow you away.

The other factor is getting the first year of a new model. Kind of scary. The S4 has been around a few years (not that its perfect) but at least the newer S4's have been revised a tad from the first which is somewhat comforting.
