Default 2003 S4 info from dealer

Probably not exactly a news flash, but my dealer tells me he expects them in about a year, starting in low $50's. I'm kinda suprised they're going so far upmarket, clearly focused on M3.

Default $50K... I have been told mid-$40's LOADED.

AT $50K... I would rather buy a Z06, a used E55....

There are too many options at $50K, and for a car that small inside....

Might as well get a coupe that can kick serious ***.

Default Mid 40's highly unlikely...

Since there low 40's now, you gotta know that with the v8 it's gonna climb. I'd look for a tweaked s4 to fill the void. You don't get 360 hp in this kinda car cheap.

Default Mid 40s for the new S4? lol...have you priced a new A4 lately?

Fully loaded, IIRC, it tops 40k.

Default If it's going to "start" in the low 50's, it better be one HELL of a car.

I could easily be pulled over the the BMW side with a price like that.

Default Thats correct ... example: '02 A4 Avant w/sport/prem is $42K before T&L

and including most options that would be standard on the S4. The next generation S4 will msrp at $51-$53k and options will up that to $54K-$57K. Unless the market floor for this type/class of car falls out. Highly unlikely. Realistically, people will still consider that a fair price in N.A.. Much like the many current S4 owners decided that the $40K plus they paid for their car was reasonable. It was a considerable premium over the previous gen A4.

Default BMW didn't make any friends taking the M3 so far upmarket

and it made a mistake when it jumped from the 635CSi at around 40k to the 80k 850Ci with nothing in between. Time will tell with the S4.

Default Yeah, but a fully-loaded previous-gen A4 was only a few thousand less than an S4's base...

...plus, the E46 M3's base of $46K is only about $4K more than a fully-loaded 330ci.

I'm betting that reports we've heard of a $45K base price are accurate, and possibly even less than that; they'll still underprice the M3, and to do that they'll have to have a list in that range.
