235/40 tires on stock wheels
FYI- I have over 1k miles on my Bridgestone Potenza S-03 Pole Positions, size 235/40 ZR17 and they are great! I was concerned about the fit on the stock Avus wheels, but there is no rubbing, and the ride and handling are great. These tires replace my stock Pirelli P6000 (after 23k miles), which were good, but there is a noticable improvement.

That's cool. the will fit and drive fine. however....
you will experience a little squish so to speak on the handling as opposed to 225/45's b/c the extra 10 mm in width is a wee bit more than the tire's max size was designed for.
The only time you MAY notice a diff is initial turn in at speed on a hard corner.
so you'll be fine, just thought it'd be helpful to know the diff. and what to expect.

Re: yes, but they are designed for 17x8 stock are 17x7.5
Heh, glad to hear it 'cause Tires Plus just called me to say my SO3s have just arrived. I bought stock (normal) size [225/45/17].
I did think that I would get a quieter ride though, from what I've read. I'll see tomorrow. The P6000s were noisy as hell.
Anyway, I had to get the "best" just to see what it was all about. I considered Kumhos or something a bit less expensive, but I needed to go to the SO3s at least once. If they don't live up, or if I can't appreciate the difference, then maybe my next set will be something less expensive. With the road hazard warranty, it's coming out to $1160 with tax. You only live once.
