i dont know if the rims arent well made, or if they are just too big or what, but seems like almost once a month i have a flat, and ive had to replace two rims. I love the look of them so im thinking maybe getting the same ones in 17", will that make a big difference in terms of flats and getting bent out of shape?

Well, assuming that your damage is from hitting winter potholes and not running over curbs ......
going to 17's may help you somewhat, but if your roads are really that bad, you may even want to consider 16" winter wheels with taller 55 series winter tires.
I had to make a 400+ mi road trip through Louisville last week and found myself on a 20 mile stretch of I-64 west of Louisville that was wall-to-wall potholes. There was no way to avoid them .... many covered the entire width of the lanes where the expansion joints used to be. Thanks to my winter wheels - 16" MM Spiders w/ 215/55x16 210A's, I sustained no damage at all.
After 2 years and 24,000 mi., I credit making that simple swap each winter for resulting in no damaged wheels and no blown tires.
