2001 S4 42K miles. original warranty remaining. I shifted into 2nd at a pretty full throttle last night and it popped out and grinded really bad. I can still shift the tranny into 2nd, but it is really hard to shift in and really hard to shift it out. I have never had a problem like this in all my manual cars. Could this be as bad as a new transmission or maybe just a bad synchro or whatever. Any thoughts/help is appreciated. I am driving the car when I must now, and skipping from 1st to 3rd on shifts. Could this be a warranty item to have replaced?

wiped out the synchro. have the dealer warranty it. I assume you are stock right?

yeah, completely stock. Only had for two months now. it was CPO and had a 40k mile service 3 days ago. I was just hoping they didnt consider that a wear item. thanks! td

they shouldnt give you a hard time about fixing it. If they do try another dealer

I just had mine replaced, ive got ~50k miles on assured warranty

Of course it's a warranty item. Take it in and get it fixed.
