Default 91 octane in CA

I just went to fill up at the Chevron in Brentwood during lunch and noticed as I was filling up that they now have 91 octane. I have read about 76, but Chevron? Needless to say I was pissed (at myself for not looking and the Cali gas world in general). I topped up with 100 octane from Canyon Service in Santa Monica Canyon. What are other's experiences?

Default it's a hot topic...the main fuel supplier for CA is going 91 octane...

all your gas are belong to THEM.

Aparently all stations will switch Aug 1 (except our beloved 100 octane).

Default Why?

I was willing to buy Sunoco 94 when I lived on the East Coast for a premium over "premium 92" so why wouldn't one of the suppliers see this as an opportunity to offer 92, 93, or 94 octane at a higher price and earn additional revenue for themselves?

Default So they can keep the price of "premium" lower and continue to sell

95% of people don't look at the AKI sticker on the pump

just the price
