S4 engine is drive by wire, far from simple. I'd imagine you'd have to rewire many, many things to get it to work.

The question is, will you put the s4 badge on when you're done? Because deep down you will feel like its not really an s4. Just get a real one and save your money while hauling a$$ in a legit s4. If you want to modify a car and spend some cash while doing so, turn your newly purchased s4 into a stage 3 s4 and pull on some lambos every now and then. They make kits for a b5 s4, no kits for a b5 half and half a4/s4. Just being honest. Good luck.

if you do this swap you need the complete wiring harness from donor s4, you will need the front sub frame assembly for the direct swap in.every control module, instrument cluster because it has a processor in it that works with the fuel system. if you have s4 parts cars it can be done but just not worth it, seeing you can buy one for cheap now days and put the money into mods for the real s4, If you do this swap good luck to you and keep us informed.

No i'd rather have the a4 emblem w/ s4 engine hahaha, blow people away thinking im in a stock a4 haa. And as for being cheaper, no its not, I would be wanting a b5, which I havn't found for under 9,000 (for a decent one), and it is 2,000 for brand new s4 tranny from my friend and 1,100 for a 40k miles s4 engine... so for 3,100 instead of 9,000 keep in mind I don't have labor charges as 3 of my friends dads own shops and are all willing to help with the project car

if you get a good trans your looking at 2900$ then you will need all the wiring and control modules, instrument cluster, gas pedal assembly, fuel pump, rear diff that matches the final drive ratio as the trans. inter coolers 350$-1100$ ECM 200$-600$ 350$ timing belt kit while the motor is out save money in the long run. You can find a salvage S4 for 5000$

So your advice would be to get a totaled s4 and fix it? I thought of doing that.. but I was kinda interested in the a4 swap lol it would be so unique.. Plus I've already found the transmission for 2,000 you are correct I would need wiring control modules ect though.

you can find a salvage S4 that's ready to drive for 5000$ might need some work. if you want to do this swap look for a complete salvage car for parts for 2500$-3500$ I'M currently building a 30,000 mile S4 I bought for 3300$ I have about 5200$ in to it now and still have more to spend b4 its finished. Id look for the salvage parts car so you can use everything off it, the A4 and S4 shells are the same, with minor additions on the S4 for the side skirts the big difference's are the electronic control systems. the swap is no big deal it's just swapping wiring, and drive train assembly in.
