About to replace timing belt. What mileage did everyone replace/break theirs at?

What's the longest anyone's had theirs last?

I think most would recommend it at 60K but some have failed at shorter intervals.

I did mine (had it done) at 72k. Failure is one issue, but don't forget the thing can stretch, too.

replaced at 77,631. Everything looked fine, rollers were most worn, belt gear edges looked good.

76k. Belt had stretched

Santorin_OX 03-07-2007 11:52 AM

Did mine around 84K, everything looked ok, but the belt had stretched.

<dead horse + beating> Audi says between 90-120K...all paranoid S4 owners do it before then.

My 01.5 has an original sticker that says change at 75,000 mi.

Cooper993 03-07-2007 12:20 PM

Mine was done at 62K. Mechanic said everything was fine.
