Default Abrupt Hestitation During Acceleration

I had an APR chip installed on my 2001 Audi S4 a little over a year ago (v 5.3 I believe). Recently, the car is exhibiting some strange behavior. Not sure that it's a chip issue at all.

1) The car will hesitate abruptly during acceleration • almost like a misfire, then continue to accelerate
2) The problem is intermittent .
3) Sometimes it happens between 3000 and 4000 RPM, sometimes above 4000.

Any thoughts? Thanks

Default I had hesitation at one time...

I also have the APR chip but I don't think it's related. My MAF was on it's way out.

After replacing the MAF and running a can of sea foam through the engine my hesitation went away.

How many miles on your car?

If you have access to a VAG-Com, I'd suggest checking for codes.

Default Sounds like the old M-box stumble that GIAC used to do. They since solved it, but it was

maddening for a while there.

Are you a 2001 or 2001.5? Manual or tip?

Default 2001.5 - 6 sp

The APR folks are suggesting possible boost leak (throttle body boot). Does that make sense?

I have no access to VAG. Will this be an issue at the dealer?
