Default accident advice

I just picked up a 2000 S4 a few weeks ago. I already put an APR chip and air intake on the car, and have a snub mount, short throw shifter, and suspension on order. I've been a frequent reader of this forum for several years now (I also had a TT), but never got around to posting as I have always found my answers by searching. I was hoping that my first post on this forum would be of a different nature, but oh well. . .

Anyway, I got rear ended yesterday at probably 20mph (?). The car is still drivable, but it looks like the car will need quite a bit of work. The trunk has a large dent, the bumper/rear valance are pretty much gone (although I got the bumper back on), the spare tire well is dented in, and the muffler is trashed. I assume the crashbar/bumper shocks will also need to be replaced.

I was wondering how some of you have handled these situations - Florida is a no fault state, so the lady's insurance is covering everything. Should I demand that a dealer or an independent shop does the repair? I am new to south Florida, so I don't know of any really good body shops down here. Also, how much of a pain is it to say that I want an RS4 rear bumper instead of stock, or an APR cat-back system? I figured that I might as well use this opportunity to upgrade a little. The muffler won't be a big deal I don't think, but I have heard about fitting issues with the RS4 bumper (or are there any others you suggest?) and am wondering if the dealer won't want to do it.

I appologize for rambling - I need to figure this out by Monday though when the insurance adjuster starts wanting me to get quotes. I've never used insurance before, so I'm not exactly sure what to expect. I attached a few pictures as well.

Thanks in advance for any input.

Jason

Default I don't live in State of FL, but this is what I would do

you should get a good independent shop work on your car, have them chech out the rear end frame/re-enforcement. The insurance will most likely give you only the quote base on the parts you had on the car now, that mean they will try to give the quote base on OEM bumper, exhaust, yada yada..... some even try to quote you with a used parts, if this happen you may need to fight with them.

When you bring it to the body shop make sure explain to them that you will want a different exhaust, bumper....some shope will be stupid about it and insist only put on OEM, they do this cuz they don't want to deal with custom fit if that ever happen.

Try to find yourself a few different shop in case one shop doesn't want to do what you ask.

As for rear RS4, I don't think it look good without a full wide body kits....Good luck and let us know how it turn out

Default Re: accident advice

I had a similar accident, but it was my fault and I rear ended another Audi.. but I replaced my front bumper w/ the OEM RS4 Bumper, I got RS4 front grill and Euro head lights, but I had to pay the difference in the price of the parts. I didnt use Audi for a body shop, I had a private body shop do it. not to sure, but I know I had the body shop order eveything from Achtuning.com and they gave the body shop wholesale prices.. so good luck Sir.

Default Also, make sure to inform your insurance company...

incase anything happens with the other lady, that way you're not liable for the damage.

You'll have to ask around to see who's the best body shop.

Get multiple estimates!

Default first thing, there is no RS4 rear bumper for your car. The RS4 rear is only for the avant/wagon

as for the shop to do the repairs. i would suggest finding a place that works on euros and exotics. they usually do great work and are meticulous about body panel gaps.
