Default advice on adding AWE or Autospeed Exhaust manifolds

Have already gone to stage 3 and plan on adding RS4 intake Mani/RS4 TB and RS4 cams and while I am at it the thought crossed my mind to upgrade the exhaust manifold as well.

I see from AWE web site it aids in quicker spool up and adds a little HP and TQ down in the rpm a little sooner as well. I don't see much downside with this addition other than the cost. I figure if upgrading DP's and exhaust then the Exhaust Mani has to be a good idea for the same type of reasons or am I missing something ?

Default you have to pull the motor again. It is good to address the exhaust manifolds when you swap turbos

not after You can either use piggied exhaust manis --> welds cleaned up, porting, coating or buy the aftermarket manis.

The coated awe manis are very nice.

Default AWE is ceramic coated - Autospeed is not

Question is how effective is the coating? I have seen ceramic coated headers that darken with age from oil spillage, dirt, etc. This will cause more heat radiation. Stock double wall headers will not degrade in that way. I have not seen a comparison of heat transfer stock vs single wall coated, but my guess is the stock will retain more and transfer less heat. I have no idea how significant this is.

Pretty sure the Autospeed ones come coated now. FWIW, I'm quite happy with my AWE manifolds.

Default in addition

ceramic coatings keep heat in, which is good not only for reducing under hoop temps......keep that hot air moving

Default Hah!

They say that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

Just a couple more details, and he has successfully copied our design. Hehe.
