Default Air Bag Code 01217 - Drivers Air Bag Igniter - Need Quick Recall Info

Just curious if anyone knows if Audi has a lifetime warranty on something like this?

Quick explination of the problem. Having the air bag in the steering wheel, from cranking the wheel etc the wiring to the ignitor breaks apart which is common on pretty much any vehicle. From talking to my mechanic friend, he said that companies like DailmerChrysler offer a lifetime warranty on fixing this stuff since it is a safety concern.

He said he checked his tech documents and didn't see any recalls for this. So thought I would check on the board.

Thanks,

Default Doubt it. A/B warranty is usually nothing special. Bentley says...

This code is thrown if there is a short circuit, the inflator is bad, or the airbag ecu is bad. First thing i'd do is take off the airbag and check the connection. Then reconnect. If you are doing this without VAG, you are almost wasting your time. You have to clear the codes out of the ECU with the VAG tool. If you need a new ECU, well, get ready to pay, and labor is about 4 hours--I changed mine in 5. Hornpad airbag is easy labor--but expensive part.
