Default Airbag ECU replaced....what a PITA

As some of you may know, my Airbag ECU gave the 65535 code last month and I decided to get a part from a junk yard and do it myself. So, I got the part for $165 from a junk yard, ordered up a VAG COM cable, radio removal keys and was ready to go. I did it this weekend and what a pain. It was my first time taking apart the center consoles which was part of the reason why it took me about 5 hours from start to finish. Anyway, if anyone is going to do this, I highly reccommend having the Bentley, a VAG COM and access to AW forum search!! By the way, the part new from the dealer is $1050 and I think they charge 4hrs labor.

After this, I might sell this car. I don't need this kind of headache.

bonding with your S4 (after purchasing the j-yard part), how nice. Keep the S4, it's now part of the family.

Hope that fixed it! Your fix was easier (and a ton less $$) than mine! :-/

It would almost be worth it to get a cage and 5 point harnesses than fix the airbags.

Default Extremely good relationship with service manager....

He was th service manager at local BMW dealership before he was service manager at local Audi dealership. My family has been taking cars into him for a long time. He actually *just* called to confirm that the module arrived and he opened up a time for me to come in.

Yes, I agree, the job totally sucks. I replaced mine with a junk yard part as well.
