Are the aluminum roof rails or the polished aluminum mirrors coated with anything?

Default Are the aluminum roof rails or the polished aluminum mirrors coated with anything?
My roof rails are kind of hazy looking and using Mother's aluminum/mag polish didn't do much. Wondering if they are clear-cloated or what the deal is.

They are clear coated, treat them like any painted part.

No, treat it like you would hazy paint. Polish it away.
