Another quick question, what are your thoughts on AWE vs. LLtek Intake?

Default Another quick question, what are your thoughts on AWE vs. LLtek Intake?

I just had a chance to check out the pics for both units and the AWE looks like it would keep heat out better because of the stock airbox.

The LLtek unit looks like it might flow more air but I'm worried about the engine heat.

Has anyone tried either one? What are you thoughts?

You are right, the LLTEK one is going to suck in hot air.....it compromises the snorkel thingy so what's it's left with is stale...superheated air.

The AWE kit uses the ITG filter....best in the world according to many. They recorded a 10%gain in airflow over the MAss air unit.....

hope this helps
-Cheng

Default Thanks....i got reamed by a friend for

even considering the LLTEK unit.....LOL

"drive around for a while and the put your hand on the hood near the intake...see how cold the air that's being ingested is"

LOL made sense to me.
-Cheng

Default I have the AWE unit. It is very quiet, goes in to the stock box...

The performance gains were minimal. I would say the HP per dollar is about the same as a cat back exhaust. My but dyno says 3-5HP. I recommend it, since there are no negatives about the system. Again the sound is just like stock.

John

PS: I also have the MTM Chip and cat back exhaust

Default Not necessarily. I have the LLTEK Intake, and it has excellent heat shielding. It actually resembles

AC Schnitzer's cold air intake system for the M3. Except the LLTEK unit has much more heat shielding.

and did the sound increase at all? also, could you tell me other mods you have. Thanx

Default Although I have a large "butt", hence I do not feel changes as well as most :-). I did notice a

very slight difference. The intake is louder than stock. I personally like the sound. Then again, I also like my VM1 exhaust a lot, and a little "wooshing" noise under the hood is great for me. Other mods? UUC, short shift kit and ****, Momo pedals, Valentine One concealed display, GIAC chip, HR coilovers.... Soon to come, brake upgrade and wheel upgrade...
