Default I have the V1 hardwired into my M3 with output routed to the optional concealed display. Love it!

I love the V1 for a number of reasons:

1.) It's always in the top one or two in comparrison tests. Usually #1.

2.) It tells you where the radar is via directional arrows.

3.) It comes with the hardwiring kit.

4.) It uses standard four wire phone cord so you can make your own length of cord.

5.) The optional remote display lets you keep the unit up on the windshield and routes the visual signals to your remote display. I Velcroed mine to my sunglass holder. That way, cops behind me can't light me up with their radar just to see if I have detector. This already happend once.

The only bad thing is it's expensive. But then again so are tickets and the resulting insurance rate increases.

Good luck, even though you slay BMW's.

V1 rules. Spend the extra $$ to get the count and directional arrows, very handy!

Default Have had 8500 and V1, the 8500 is better!

The V1 has more false alarms, and no better range. The arrows are ok but don't seem to be that accurate.

Default I have both and agree...

8500 is "slightly" better than the V1. Less false alarms, slightly better K and KA detection and better aesthetics imo. V1 has better rear protection and slightly better X detection. Rear protection is of little use where I live, PA. Radar cannot be used from a moving vehicle here. If I pass a stationary radar source and he targets me after I have passed him the end result will most likely be a citation.

You can't go wrong with either one.

A joke because it doesn't say V1 is king?
