Any suggestions for smoother shifting?

Any suggestions for smoother shifting?
This is the first manual tranny car I've owned and I'm trying to get my shifts really smooth for the rest of the family to avoid any ugly whiplash incidents.
When shifting, I've been coming off the gas, getting on the clutch and then trying to get back into the gas a little before slipping the clutch to do some rev. matching to get things a little cleaner.
Anyone have other techniques they use to ensure smooth shifts?

Re: Any suggestions for smoother shifting?
I've found that not depressing the clutch all the way in and letting it out quicker (so I can get on the gas sooner before the revs drop) helps me to shift smoother.

FWIW, if you just can't manage to do it...
try another S4. I was in the same boat, could never manage to shift at anything other than WOT smoothly. Drove another S4 and realized that there was something *very* wrong with my clutch because I could've driven the other S4 smoothly with two broken toes and hyped up on speed.
Dealer replaced a bearing in the clutch or something like that, and my car is *fantastic* now to drive.
So don't automatically assume the problem is you -- I did, and I suffered 6500 miles in the car before getting it fixed.

suggestion.... try shifting smoothly at slow speeds in a parking lot where you don't have to worry
about traffic.... then gradually keep working
up the speeds...
a good indication of when you'll have a nice
smooth transition is when the shifter slides
into gear nice and easy... without any force at
all.. like it wants to be there.

Learn to double-clutch...
...and never take your foot completely off the accelerator. Use the accelerator to modulate engine speed so that you can rev match appropriately without forcing the synchros to do it and you'll notice much smoother shifts. Double-clutching is probably going to be far smoother, tho. Now if I can just learn to heel-and-toe...

move the center console arm rest for one thing...
i don't understand how you guys shift with that thing there...it's like you have to have a "limp wrist" to shift so your elbow doesn't interfere with it.
that, and the fact that the "throw" is enormous on the S4.
i keep mine folded all the way back. gives my arm enough space to shift without having to bend my wrist like some ferry, lol!
