Any tiptronics running MTM's 6-speed programming (not different ECU box, just programming)?

What do you mean "not different ECU box", it would have to be different since the tips don't use the
same ECU as the 6-speeds. I'm guessing your car would be in for a world of hurt (if it even started) with a 6-speed ECU in the car.

WindyCityS4 told me that some tips are running the correct ECU box, but 6spd programming...
kind of like running a chip that doesn't differentiate between tip and 6spd like GIAC. MTM has different programming for tip and 6spd, and Mike said the 6spd programming wouldn't work even in the correct ECU. Just wanted to find out if others here are actually running the 6spd programming.
The reason I'm curious? My '00 MTM stg 1 tip is producing (and asking for) more boost than WindyCityS4's MTM stg 1 tip, so we thought maybe it was due to his "detuned" tip chip and mine not. Mike Hoppen wouldn't tell me exactly how much it is detuned for tips, but did say it is less torque.

That's odd, I can't imagine that a 6-speed chip would work in a tip car. But, Hoppen isn't exactly
forthcoming with information, so who knows. I *think* I see what you're saying. Since GIAC X is the same for tips and 6-speeds, you're wondering if you can do the same with MTM? I don't think it works like that. While GIAC probably uses the same performance parameters for thier different chips, I'm sure the code is slightly different, if for nothing more than to deal with the different ECUs. What I'm saying is that while GIAC DOES differentiate, the end result is the same. Does that make sense?

I was theorizing if they could have flashed the 6spd software files onto a tip ecu. (more)
His boost levels are higher than mine and the boost profile is different. The only difference in our car is that he has a "B" box, I have "L". Does anyone have the boost levels from a 6spd MTM chip? Can the software be flashed onto any ECU, or is the software specific to the ecu number?

that's odd. i spoke to hoppen back in the day and they told me that 6pd and tips had the software
meaning that neither torque nor horsepower has been reduced.
if you're comparing different boxes why don't you take windycitys4's box and place it into your car and take some vag readings. that way if your car is still outta sync w/ boost issues then you can say that it's a mechanical issue rather than electrical.
if i recall correctly, i remember some guy with a tip place a six speed box in his car by accident after it was chipped by a dealer and when he opened the door, the display said "press clutch to start car." obviously that wasn't going to happen.

I think it was the same in the early days, but changed down the road...
And unfortunately, WindyCity lives on the other side of the US from me, and I can't find another b-box in my area. Not even AMS has one right now. That will be my next inquiry, though, to find another chipped b-box and log the same runs.
