Default Anyone familar with these symptoms (perhaps I have a leak)? ...

Yesterday afternoon and then again this morning, when accelerating from near standing start (5-15 mph) I get strong acceleration through third then, at between 60 and 80 mph, power abruptly drops off and the car nose dives. It's like power is cut or I've lost boost or something.

Thoughts?

It pulls hard to 60, though it's also been hot as fvck here lately (was already 90+ this morning when the car bogged, 110° yesterday).

Could this be a slipping clutch?

Default No

Both occurances were straight line shots at WOT on dry pavement. And both occured at spots I drive daily under the same conditions (i.e., WOT to get up to speed entering an open stretch of highway). Never had this happen before.

More specifically, even though I don't see how it could be ESP ... I've not seen the ESP warning light come on.

Just hitting the obvious, I have had mine kick in on straight line before.

Default I'm with ya; my first thought last night was throttle cutoff at redline

... though I didn't think I'd hit redline. And I'm certain I didn't hit redline this morning, so the fact it has happened twice within 24 hours would make this an odd coincidence.

Doubt it's a clutch... Has it thrown any codes?

Default Dunno ... I've only owned it 4+ years, so don't have VAG yet?

:-O

Seriously though, I don't know.

Is there an easy way to pressure test?

Default Pressure test is easy if you have an air compressor...

You can go to AWE's website, and there are instructions on which parts you need and how to build it.

The symptoms as you describe sound more like an electrical issue to me, but it's tough to determine...

Is there anyone close to you with a VAG?
