Default None here.

But, that doesn't really mean much.
Your wheels might be different from mine in many ways, and you may rub.
Your suspension height plays a part in it too.

I've only had rubbing once before, and that happened when I was doing a hard 130 degree turn at about 30MPH. The turn was left-to-right, and the driver's side tire rubbed for about 2 seconds.
My normal daily drive doesn't issue any rubbing at all.

Wheels are 18x8 with ET43 offset.

I think wheel offset has more to do with rubbing issues than tire width does.

so lower the offset (i.e 35) will have a better chance of rubbing? or it is the other way around?

Lower offset rubs fender...higher offset rubs suspension.

Default there's a "window" that you should be safe in

About ET35-38.

If you have a lower offset then you run risks of hitting the fender and wheel well liner (rolling fenders and/or cutting the liner will help, especially if you're looking to run especially wide tires).

A higher offset and you may rub the upright on the inside.

Default Along that line, I'm guessing I'd be ok running a 17 X 8 rim with 235/45/17 tires on a car with (m)

a front and rear height to the fender of 25.5", yes???

TIA

Default Maybe...

But my preference would be to run a shorter tire (235/40).

Try a 38 offset in the front, the back you never have to worry about!

Default So...

If I go from the the stock 17 X 7.5 with an offset of 45 to a 17 X 8 with an offset of 35 with 235/45/17 tires, I might be pushing my luck with a fender height of 25.5"? The 235/40/17 should help me avoid any potential problems then.

I guess my question is what is the difference between 235/45/17 and 235/40/17? And, yes I know its @ 12mm, but seriously, will I notice anything between the two?

Thanks Sharon.
