Default Anyone here run 5w40 in winter?

Just wondering. I searched and didn't find much. I managed to get my hands on some Amsoil 5w40 and wanted to give that a shot. I usually run M1 0w40. Thoughts?

It'll be fine, but if it were me, I'd save that for the summer.

5W-40 is okay but IMHO, 0W-40 is better. Especially in cold climates.

Default 0w40 M1 is too shear happy for me. Unless you live in superfrigid climates, i'd use a 5w40.

If it's super cold, run 0w30 German Castrol Syntec.

Default How much thicker is 5w40 vs. 0w40 really?

I guess what i'm most concerned about is making sure the oil gets through those tiny oil lines to the turbos. I wouldn't think a 5 weight vs. a 0 weight would make that much of a difference. Anyone care to comment?

Default I am right now. Pentosin 5w40 all year

I use to run mobil 1 0w40 in the non-winter months, and amsoil 5w30 for the winter.

Both seemt to work great.
