Anyone with PC680s, please post your setup, likes/dislikes, etc.
I picked one up about a month ago, and can't decide where to mount it.
It's tempting to mount it in the stock location, cause that's so easy.
But on the other hand, I slid it into the empty space under the disc changer in the trunk, and it's just too perfect a fit to ignore. I've never done a battery relocation so I'm clueless. I STFA but didn't find anything really useful. In fact, I don't even know if it's safe to run power cables inside the car (I've heard conflicting opinions).
Please post any info you guys have about mounting this battery, I'm torn!
Thanks.

There are a lot of systems in cars that reqiure more and bigger power cables then the car itself so
there shouldn't be an issue w/ running power cables in the car. I'm interested to hear if there are though and any other tips.

8" J hooks and a univeral battery bracket =

you should use a trickle charger. it will run out of juice, especially if you have an amp. letting it sit for 7-10 days or very cold winter days, and it's not going to start.
and, it does fit under the CD changer/PhatBox, but you'll need to fab some brackets to hold it there. you can get batter cable/relocation kits from Summit Racing or the like. search their website.

http://www.summitracing.com</a

There are no issues with running cables through the car except for where it goes through metal.
It needs to be protected from accidental shorting. However, the weight of the addtional cable needed to relocate the battery to the trunk might make you rethink the advantages of that setup. Have you ever held 20 ft of 2AWG cable? It's not light.

20 ft of 2AWG cable is light compare to the rest of the cables you got running there :)
yeah, good cabling is NOT light. Figure about 10 pounds for a 20ft run of 1/0. Now, there is still some advantage of the "location" of the weight. Most of this new cable weight would be very low, and you take the stocker 46 pounder or whatever out of being very high. You are also moving some of the weight toward the back on a front heavy car.
IMO, unless you are a uber track junkie, probably not worth the time/effort/money. You would never notice the difference. Just be happy with how much weight you are taking off already, and leave it in the stock location. Or buy a Brail battery

Just get one of these, and do this:

I used a right-angle drill with the shortest sheet metal screws I could find.
Couldn't really tell what was behind the firewall - something plastic, not too firmly attached. I used a short drill bit and blunted the screws just in case and had no problem.
BTW, there is an existing bolt on the driver side location that some people use for one of the attachment points. When I lined it up with that one, it seemed like the battery box was too low and partially blocked the water drain. Probably would be OK in a dry climate, but here in the PNW, I wanted to make sure leaves and needles wouldn't get stuck in there.
Oh, and be sure to notice the 2nd (closer) ground attachment point before you go buy a longer wire like I did. Doh!
FYI, I've had no probs with my battery for 1.5 yrs. Only needed to jump it once when my daughter left one of the reading lights on.
