Default AP-22 Follow up (long)

A few of us in Dallas met up this evening for some performance testing with the AP-22 performance meter.

We found a nice little secluded street and did some 0-60 runs in two different cars (both stock new badge '01 6sp S4's) in an effort to see what kinds of times we could get and whether or not the AP-22 was producing accurate results.

All runs were with ESP off. Temp was about 75F... roads were wet, but it didn't seem like we were slipping at all (gotta love Quattro!!).

I was doing 3K clutch friendly launches and one of my companions was doing well, lets just say we smelled some clutch! :-P Each time, we took it to the rev limiter in 2nd, which should be about 62mph.

At the end, we traded off cars in an effort to negate any differences between cars. And by having two of us driving hopefully we negated any differences between drivers. Our overall objective was to test the AP-22, not our driving skills.

Overall, the best 0-60 we managed (according to the AP-22) was 6.2 seconds and we were averaging about 6.7 seconds when we launched well and hit the 1-2 shift smoothly.

The raw data dump from the AP is below. I took out our really bad runs and unfortunately we somehow managed not to save the 6.2 second run.

Anyways, the conclusion that I draw from the results is that the AP must be reading slow. Either that or both of us doing the driving are REALLY bad, which I suppose is possible. :-P

Settings for the AP were as follows:

Mass 3900lbs
cDa .900
Roll Resisance .013
Tilt .011
Roll Factor .011
Smoothing .004

We're planning on doing another evening with both an AP-22 and a G-Tech side-by-side for comparison. If we find anything useful, I'll let you know.

James

Default The hp numbers look right.

255 at the flywheel should be about 225 at the wheels.

Default Isn't 225 a little high?

With the all wheel drive, thought there was a lot more drive line loss down to about 200 at the wheels.

Default I was using 15% as drivetrain losses. So 225 would be 265 hp.

You are right, that may be too low for quattro. Either way the AP-22 is AFU.
